As the automation of manufacturing processes accelerates, more and more factories are using industrial robots to replace human workers for tasks such as deburring, welding seam polishing, and workpiece polishing. The core execution component of the entire polishing workstation is the robotic polishing head. The performance of the polishing head directly determines the quality of the finished product and the stability of the production line.

There is a wide variety of robot grinding heads available in the market, categorized into two main types: pneumatic and electric. Electric grinding heads feature stable rotational speeds, making them suitable for precise polishing of 3C casings and bathroom fixtures. Pneumatic grinding heads, on the other hand, have sufficient torque and are often used for rough grinding of casting edges and welded seams. Many enterprises focused solely on the load capacity of the industrial robot itself while neglecting the weight, rotational speed, and dust-proof rating of the grinding heads. As a result, issues such as vibrations, overheating, and rapid wear occurred frequently later on.

The polishing heads of ordinary rigid robots have extremely high requirements for the precision of fixtures and the trajectories of the robots. Once there are casting tolerances or clamping deviations in the workpiece, it is highly likely to experience localized missed polishing or over-cutting, resulting in the workpiece becoming scrap. The limitations of purely rigid polishing solutions become apparent when processing irregularly shaped surfaces or irregular components.

It is recommended that enterprises choose grinding heads based on the material of the workpiece and the manufacturing process. For large quantities of standardized workpieces, rigid grinding heads can be used; for situations with diverse products and significant raw material errors, flexible structures can be employed. Properly matching industrial robots with robotic grinding heads can significantly reduce the difficulty of calibration, enable 24-hour continuous production, reduce reliance on manual labor, and thus lower the overall production costs of the factory in the long run.
